Reese Turns 2!!

On Saturday, I got to celebrate the sweet, sassy and spunky Miss Reese Julia’s 2nd birthday with her!  This girl cracks me up…total attitude and control for only being 2…reminds me a lot of myself!  She is one strong willed, adorably special, little girl!  Love her!

Kim also thought it would be fun to wrap me up in toilet and crepe paper….the kids thought this was HILARIOUS and a lot of fun!  Good thing I’m a good sport Smile

But, what was more fun was the fight we had after!

A cool side-note….Reese has an older brother, Quinten, who is 11 months older then him (he turned 2 HERE, last year while I was in Texas!) and for the next 22 days they BOTH will be 2 years old!  They are almost Irish Twins…would have had to have been born in the same year to be official Irish Twins….very cool none the less!  Oh and yes, they are biological siblings Smile

Gaylord Texan’s Lone Star Christmas

They day before Julia & I flew home, I had the chance to go to the fabulous gorgeous Gaylord Texan Hotel and see all the gorgeous holiday decorations!  We went on Paige’s birthday, but it was just Quinten & I hanging out looking at the decorations, while Kim & Paige celebrated together!  Quinten and I had a wonderful time, if you ever get the chance to go you, you really should!  It was amazing!

Bouncing Around!

I’m so proud of myself, I’m getting caught up on my past posts … hopefully nothing big happens that I need to blog in the next few days. Doubtful though as I go back to school for Winter quarter on Tuesday (yuck!). Here we go back to Texas….

The Tuesday I was in Texas, December 20th, we planned to go to a local trampoline place. I oh so love trampoline’s that I was excited to go! This trampoline place was similar to Sky High Sports in that it has wall to wall trampolines! (I blogged about a couple of my trips to Sky High – HERE with my nieces and HERE with the triplets.) I don’t know who was more excited Paige or myself?! Apparently, they just opened and when we showed up it was already sold out for most of the day Sad smile We were bummed, but luckily across the street was a bouncy house gym, the same one we visited during our 2010 Texas trip!

Paige is such a big girl, she was excited to go of on her own and play, jump and slide on the big kids climbers.

In the meantime the babies, myself, Julia & Kim hung out in the toddler area.  The toddler area was great, it was a big Sesame Street bounce house and inside it was the perfect size for little ones. Reese is fearless and she went right in and had a fantastic time. (If she talked) I’m sure her only complaint was she doesn’t walk yet…she got around on her hands and knees though!

It took Quinten a little bit more coaxing before he jumped in (no pun intended!). After playing in the toddler area for a bit, Quinten felt brave enough to move onto a bigger one.  He immediately wanted to try this colossal obstacle course with a huge slide at the end. He wasn’t big enough to go on his own so I went along with him. After our first trip down the slide, he was ready to go “again, again, again!” I think we did that slide about 10 times. My only complaint was the ladder that lead to the slide was so worn. Having to carry Quinten up a vertical ladder and keep my balance was quite the chore! Quinten didn’t seem to mind…I was a bit nervous!!

What a fun day that was!  I was exhausted but it was worth it, not to mention I got a great workout!

One more day of Texas posts to go!

Pizza Party

These Hoerner kids all have Christmassy birthdays!  So yesterday we celebrated Paige’s 6th birthday and Quinten’s 2nd birthday.  Those avid, Cori’s Big Mouth readers, probably already know that we already celebrated Quinten’s birthday, on the actual day of his birth, December 14th.  That coincidentally was the same day Julia and I arrived in Texas!  Come back in a few days, and you may see another rendezvous!

Sunday’s birthday party was supposed to be a small, easy, informal party.  Wow, it was anything but small, I think there were about 40 people there!  It was great to get to meet so many of Kim and her kids’ good friends and family!  I met some very amazing people, which made me feel slightly guilty that Kim will *hopefully* soon be moving to Washington and leaving all her friends and family behind.  Just slightly…I have to say I’m super excited to have her coming north!!

On to the party…

Fishing Birthday Party Texas Style

This is only my second trip ever to Texas my entire life.  Well save for a few stopovers at the DFW airport, but that doesn’t really count … unless you buy the sweatshirt … then it does!  Anyway.

Today one of Paige’s friends had a birthday party at Bass Pro Shop.  Anyone else ever heard of it?  I’m getting the impression that I’m the only one who’s never not experienced it.  When I asked Kim, where the party was being held, she told me “matter of factly”, Bass Pro Shop to go fishing.  Then she adds “trust me, it isn’t a store either one of us would frequent.”  When we arrived I figured out why.

From Wall to Wall, Floor to Ceiling outdoor stuff.  Guns (cuz everyone in Texas has one!), tents, abundance of camo wear, mounted heads on the wall, canoes, fishing gear, fishing boats.  You name it, if it’s an outdoor activity, this place has it.

Strangely, they also do birthday parties (FREE), I might add, at least at the location we were at.  The kids had about 30-minutes to fish in this pond right out front of the store.  We’ll just say the fishies weren’t really biting.  I think two got caught total?

My question is apparently these are catch and release …. but how can you release a fish who has been hooked with a hook?  Sounds painful to just throw them back!

As you can tell, I’m definitely not an outdoorsy girl.  I prefer my indoor malls with American Eagle, Nordstrom’s, Macy’s and Abercrombie & Fitch.  Yes, I’m a clothes-aholic, what can I say?  This store was way out of my comfort zone, but I have to say the birthday party was a lot of fun.

Here’s some photos from our adventure fishing today!
