2011 Blog in Review

Every year I say this, but it’s so true – where did the year go?  It feels like it was just yesterday that I wrote my 2010 Blog in Review and about a month since I wrote my 2009 Blog in Review.  How is it possible that I’m sitting down to write my 2011 Blog in Review?  Just blows my mind!

{Cabo} Day 8

The day we flew home (Monday) was the first and only trip to the beach we had over the 8 days we spent in Cabo!  Crazy isn’t it?!!  We used our time wisely and had a ton of fun at the beach!!

One of my absolute favorite things to do at the beach is rent jet ski’s!  I’ve done it on every cruise I’ve been on and LOVE it!  Check out here (Cabo San Lucas on 2010 Cruise), here (Acapulco) and here (Huatulco, Mexico) to see past Jet-Skiing experiences!

Alex had never gone before and was scared!  I started out driving with her holding on and then midway we traded places (yes out in the middle of the water) so she could drive.  That helped, once she was in control she was all over it!  We had a blast!

On the way to the airport we detoured past the location where Mary & Bruce were married.  What a beautiful location, right on the water and overlooking the famous rocks!!

Well that ends our Cabo vacation Sad smile

{Cabo} Day 7

I’m sadly writing this from un-sunny Seattle.  Leaving yesterday was bittersweet, but I have to admit it is nice to be home.  Granted I haven’t officially been home yet – spent the night last night at my parents and tonight I’m staying at my cousins house, but I’m sure tomorrow it will feel great to be home Open-mouthed smile

I tried to be on top of my blogging during my vacation, but somehow I’m a couple of days behind!  These photos were taken on Sunday, our last full day in Cabo!!

Crazy Days of Summer *Yellow*

{Cabo} Day 6

This weeks Crazy Days of Summer prompt once again comes from sunny Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with the theme of yellow.  This prompt just coincidently fit with the activity I was most looking forward to on this vacation … PARASAILING.  Coincidentally out parasail was a big giant YELLOW happy face, perfect for this

The first group to go was my mom and sister Kelly.  While they were inflight Alex & I sat in the boat with the rest of our family who had chickened out, waiting for it to be our turn to fly!

DSC_0275DSC_0289DSC_0293DSC_0299

Upon return to the boat, our Aunt Sharon had chickened out on going, so we had paid for an extra flight.  Kelly, who doesn’t do well in boats at all, decided she’d go again, because it probably was safer for her IN THE AIR the ON THE BOAT!

DSC_0300DSC_0301DSC_0325DSC_0330

Kelly was fine until about 30 seconds after we left the boat, when she started to feel sick.  That immediately kicked me into nausea mode and we both were sick in the first minute.  Poor Alex was stuck between us and we both were NOT HAPPY.  She tried her hardest to get the boat’s attention, but we were to far away, her waving to them looked like she was waving “we’re having a blast!” and not “SOS!”  We finally got Alex to stop waving, because clearly that wasn’t working and eventually they lowered us back to the boat.

Instead of a nice calm boat landing, the people piloting the boat thought it would be funny to land us IN THE WATER.  That was the highlight for me.  I was at the point of trying to figure out where the best place to vomit was without the wind spraying it all over the three of us.  After our water landing, they started to send us back up – until we started screaming NOOOOO and my mom recognized the motion sickness face known all to well of Kelly & I

My mom quickly told the guys to land us and let us get down.  I’ve never been so happy to be back on the boat in my life!

Was it scary?  No, for me it wasn’t.  I don’t have a fear of heights and the views were breathtaking!

So what made me sick?  Parasailing is just like riding the swings at the fair – similar motion.  I cannot ride the swings without getting nauseous and apparently I can’t parasail either!

Would I do it again?  Yes, after I’d taken a full dose of Dramamine, I would do it again!  I lived to tell about it and would highly recommend it to everyone to give it a try!!  I just suggest you take Dramamine before you fly Open-mouthed smile

{Cabo} Day 5

I’m a day behind in my blogging, I was doing so well until yesterday!  Oh well, I am on vacation after all!!

Friday we headed back to the boardwalk and had lunch at Solomon’s.  DELICIOUS food I might add!!  Solomon’s is right next to the booth where the baby animals were.  Instead of Amber, they had 60lbs and 5 month old Valentina the Tiger!!  My mom and dad were the lucky ones to hold her….I think they were NUTS!!

Today we went PARASAILING!  You’ll have to wait until tomorrow to hear all about it …

{Cabo} Day 4

How is it Friday already???  Are vacation is coming to an end rapidly Sad smile The girls and I fly out Monday night, and the rest of the “adults” will be here another week.  I’m sad, but am getting excited to head home to see Mad & Emma!

So today (Thursday), we ventured downtown to the Marina where we came in on the cruise ship last year.  [Click HERE to see our day in Cabo from the cruise!]  Last year we only had about 5 hours to spend wandering around, so it was nice to see more of the town!  The last few days there have been cruise ships in and out, but today there wasn’t any in.

One of the unique parts of Cabo our family remembers was the baby tigers and the killer loving baby panther that they had on display for tourists to take photos of and hold.  Disclaimer: These animals were shunned by their parents (the parents prefer males) and this animal sanctuary is raising the animals until they are old enough to protect themselves in the wild (at about a year old).  We were ecstatic to see the sanctuary back again!  In the same area that the killer loving baby panther was last year, they had a African Lioness!

Aunt Sharon didn’t see the animals last year and she had to hold Amber, the African Lioness.  So Sharon paid for herself and Alex to hold the baby lion!

Here are some more “random” photos, taken throughout the day today!

My mom, my sisters and I are all going parasailing tomorrow!!   Sue is chickening out and Sharon is still undecided, so we’ll see tomorrow who has the courage to actually do it!  I for one, cannot wait, that should be a lot of fun!

{Cabo} Day 3

More fun in the sun today as we prepared (or maybe pondered) Beatriz’s arrival.  According to the weather reports Beatriz hit hard in Puerto Vallarta, and will skip Cabo.  That might be true, but the waves tonight were PHENOMONAL most likely caused by Beatriz’s furry!

The rest of the day was spent go-cart racing (I came in second) and then Alex & I worked on our synchronized swimming.  We’re pretty much fantastic and ready for the Olympics Winking smile HAHA!

{Cabo} Day 2

I didn’t sleep well last night.  I don’t know why, I tossed and turned all night.  I was wide awake at 7:00am and by 7:30am was up for the day.

I woke up right as my aunt and uncle were getting ready to go out for the day; I quickly got dressed and tagged along.

We headed into the city and toured a beautiful time-share villa, had breakfast on the beach and one again enjoyed the sunshine!  Life is pretty awesome!

I’ll leave you with this final question …. does anything look wrong with the forecast for the next few days?
