M2MS–Week 13

20140309-201415.jpg

Today I had to break down and purchase a new battery for my FitBit.  The website claims it should last 6 months, but apparently I check mine to frequently because after about 3 months my battery is about dead.  Part of me wants to see how long the battery can go on “low” before dying, but if it does die then there’s a chance I will lose data…I definitely don’t want that to happen!  I’ll give it a few more days before switching, but won’t wait to long as I don’t want it to affect my goal!

Week 13 marks my fourth week being at or above 7,000 daily steps!  Yay!  Each day my steps continue to get more consistent which is keeping my average up.  I’ve also been cleared by the doctor to go back to the gym, so that should also help get my steps up!

Week 13 was a pretty good one….

M2MS ~ Week 12

20140309-201415.jpg

Week 12 wasn’t nearly as impressive as my previous week was, but still inching closer to my1 million step!  The one positive was I have hit (and passed) the 50% mark of the challenge! YAY!  Now having stepped over 50,000 steps I thought it was about time to see how I’m doing time wise on hitting my goal.

Initially I was estimating that I would walk my 1 million step on July 19th, however after re-evaluating my mathematical equation I used during week 6, I discovered I was *actually* ahead by 30 days!  YES, 30 days with a new updated finish date of June 14th, but, I didn’t discover that until just now.  I am not sure how I got the last date, but this time I am sure I am right!  Please remember I am not a mathematician and am horrible at it! Anyway……

As of today, March 23rd, I am on pace to finish my challenge on *drum roll please* June 1, 2014!  Yes, June 1st that is 2 weeks ahead of ahead of my previous date and 49 days ahead of my original date!  Woot!  Woot!

M2MS ~ Week 11

20140309-201415.jpg

Oh.My.Gosh. Week 11 was a FANTASTIC week for me, but first if you click over to Week 10, you’ll see I added the thermometer and daily steps that I couldn’t post last week.  Okay, now on to Week 11.

Oh.My.Gosh.

Did I already say that, oh wait yes I did, but I want you to understand how big this is for me….last week I was averaging 7,000 steps per day, now I am at 8,000 daily steps

Ahhhh I’m so excited and shocked!  In fact most of the week I was actually in 2nd place amongst my friends and averaging 9,000 daily steps which is a huge feet because last week they averaged 84,000 daily steps! My friend Regina, who is always in my top 3 steppin’ friends, sent me this message last week which pretty much made my day:

week11 regina shout out

Sadly my daily average dropped back to 8,000 steps due to a weekend trip to Great Wolf Lodge.  I contemplated canceling my trip because my FitBit was waterproof and would have to go nearly two days without it.  Luckily for my friends I decided to go on the trip and risk the drop in steps. Miraculously I still averaged 5,500 steps each day.

Week 11 was a great one…

Here goes week 12!

M2MS ~ Week 10

20140309-201415.jpg

First off I have to say my laptop is getting devirus-ified (I may or may not have made up that word!) so I don’t have access to my excel document I use to make the thermometer. This week’s post will be missing the thermometer and funky formatting, so I apologize in advance!

The BIG news for week 9 was I got my average back up to 7,000 steps per day! Yay! This is crazy because just last week I was only averaging 5k steps/day. Apparently the key is to still be active on the weekend! I admit that I’ve been spending many weekends being lazy, but this weekend I was constantly on the go and walked a lot! I’m hoping to keep my average up and possibly increase it!

Not only did I increase my average but also I came in 4th amongst my friends! You’re probably thinking “she’s in 4th place and proud?! It’s true I wish I was in first but everyone who I follow are crazy steppers! This week the three above me walked between 61,000 and 84,000 steps! Yes I said 84,000+ steps last week!

*Sigh*

I’m not there but maybe one day….

Week 10 Stats (March 3-9, 2014):

Total Number of Steps: 59,781 steps
Total Number of Miles Walked: 25.81 miles
How Close to 1,000,000 Steps: 419,881 / 1,000,000 = 41.98% toward goal

Total Number of Calories Burned: 13,991 calories

Next week I will share the thermometer and daily step counts!

M2MS ~ Week 9

M2MS*SIGH*

This week I saw another drop in my average steps from 6,000  to 5,000.  This does NOT make me happy.  I MUST do better next week and get my average back to 6,000 and to my eventual goal of being back to 7,000 steps per day.

I have to admit the low point of my week was Wednesday night where I found myself walking in place to hit my daily goal of 10,000 steps.

YES, I was walking in place to up my steps.

The best part was while I was stepping I was stuffing my face with Thin Mints and texting friends I’m “racing”.

Yeah, that probably wasn’t the best way to achieve 10k steps, but hey I love Thin Mints.  I don’t see a problem with it, do you??  Ha!

Week 8 Stats (February 24 – March 2, 2014):

Total Number of Steps: 38,952 steps
Total Number of Miles Walked: 16.92 miles

M2MS ~ Week 8

M2MSWeek 8 is over and I’m getting lazy.

No, I’m not just talking steps (though my average dropped another thousand steps/day this week…annoying), but I’ve now abbreviated my title from Mission to a Million Steps to M2MS.  Call me lazy or brilliant, I’ll let you pick.

I did a little bit better this week than I did last, but just barely.  I’m hoping that week 9 will be a “normal” week since I have no extra days off.  During week 8, my daily average dropped to 5k steps/day!  I was NOT happy (and blame the flu), but I was happy to notice that I am back up to 6k/day steps and am hopeful I can eventually get back to 7k.  I’m looking forward to another week of goal setting!

Week 8 Stats (February 17 – 23, 2014):

Total Number of Steps: 39,831 steps
Total Number of Miles Walked: 17.20 miles
How Close to 1,000,000 Steps: 321,148 / 1,000,000 = 32.11% toward goal

On to week 9….

Mission to a Million Steps ~ Week 7

Steps ButtonI blame this week’s lack of movement on the fact that I had the flu this weekend. It has taken me down all weekend long. I woke up feeling kind of blah on Friday and by Friday night I was in bed and asleep by like 8pm. All day Saturday and Sunday I stayed in bed fighting a fever, chills and climbing the walls when it felt like 1,000*.

It was a pretty crappy weekend.

This weekend COMBINED I never hit 3,000 steps. Yes, I’m ready for the start of a new week to try to boost my steps. The one positive/negative of this week is I have tomorrow off! Positive because I had no weekend since I was sick. Negative because I never walk very far on non-work days. Oh well that just means I will have to kick it up a notch or two the rest of the week

Week 7 Stats (February 10 – 16, 2014):

Total Number of Steps: 38,140 steps
Total Number of Miles Walked: 16.49 miles
How Close to 1,000,000 Steps: 281,287/1,000,000 = 28.13% toward goal

Let’s go week 8…..

Mission to a Million Steps ~ Week 6

Steps ButtonThis week I did a little bit better then last week’s totals.  I even went over my daily goal twice this past week (last week I never hit it!).  But, I’m not happy because while I am hitting the goal occasionally, I’m I’m still not hitting the 10k step goal on a regular basis.  I really want to up my average from 6,000 closer to the 10,000 step FitBit daily goal.

On the plus side, I am nearly at 25% of my goal to 1 million steps. On the first week of my challenge I was averaging 5,000 steps per day, with an “end date goal” of July 19th…as of today, I’m 8 days ahead of that goal!  This puts my 1 millionth step to occur on July 11th.  I’m excited to see if that date continues to drop and get closer!

On another positive note, I talked my cousin Brandi into buying a FitBit and have a new friend to “race”.  Luckily for me, her average isn’t accurate since she just started on Saturday night, but for right now I’m beating her…it’ll be interesting to see which one of us walks more during the day since we have very different daily schedules.

My steps during the work week are very sporadic, either I’m up and moving a ton (ie: Monday’s & Thursday’s when I normally go over my 10k goal) or am sitting at my desk.  Brandi on the other hand is more consistently moving, but probably not as far as me.  Does that make sense?

Anyway, I’ve added a new statistic to my weekly check-ins…Brandi –vs.- Cori …. and which one of us “won” the weekly steps challenge!  Remember I told you that EVERYTHING is a race in my world Smile

Week 6 Stats (February 3-9, 2014):

Total Number of Steps: 43,550 steps
Total Number of Miles Walked: 18.87 miles
How Close to 1,000,000 Steps: 243,147/1,000,000 = 24.31% toward goal

Total Number of Calories Burned: 13,500 calories
Average Daily Steps: 6,000 steps
Week 4’s Most Daily Steps: 11,434 steps on Thursday, February 6th
Overall Most Daily Steps: 13,825 steps on Thursday, January 23rd
Ranking Amongst Friends: 6th (out of 16 people)
