MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!

M2MS

Yes, it’s true and on Thursday, May 22nd I stepped my 1,000,000th step!!  It took me 142 days from start to end of my Mission to a Million Steps challenge started on January 1st!

What’s pretty cool is back on May 5th, during week 18, I estimated that I would complete my 1,000,000 step on May 22nd and 75 days ahead of my original estimation I made on January 1st.  I initially guessed I would complete my challenge on July 19th after 200 days, I cannot believe I did it in only 142 days!  YAY!

Here’s a look at my 21st week of the challenge:

week21 - blog - DONE!

So now what?  I’ve hit my 1 millionth step, now what?  I’m already thinking and planning another challenge for myself sometime soon.  However, I’m going to take a bit of time off from posting weekly and checking in.  May this summer, maybe this fall, only time will tell.  In the meantime, I plan on continuing to post on Monday’s, they just won’t be Mission to a Million Steps related!  But don’t worry I have plenty of back blog posts to share!  This will give me a chance to play catch-up!

I still plan on wearing my FitBit and “racing” my friends, do you want to try to out-step me and have a FitBit? Feel free to add me as a friend on FitBit. Please leave me a comment letting me know you are sending me an invite so I know who you are.  Otherwise, I will see you soon!

M2MS; Week 20

M2MS

It seems like for every big week I have, the following drops dramatically.  Last week I walked more than 70,000 steps, this week not so much! It didn’t help that I was sick in bed all weekend with a fever and upset tummy.  Regardless, I’m still 45,185 steps closer to my goal of 1 million steps.

The exciting news is I should *hit my 1 million step this week* next week!  If my calculations (and my averages are correct!) I should walk my millionth step on Wednesday!  Fingers crossed!

In the meantime, here is what week 20 looked like for me:

Oh.My.Gosh. Week 19 was AWESOME!  On Wednesday alone I stepped 17,556 steps!

Yes, 17,556 steps in ONE DAY; it helped that I moved 400,000 diapers and had a large volunteer group to manage that day too.

Below is my “printout” for Wednesday…can you tell I’m pretty darn proud? Look at all those “Champ!” days!

    Capture - Copy

Monday – Thursday I stepped well over my 10,000 step a day goal, which helped me boost my average steps to 12k per day.  Unfortunately my weekend I was a bit lazier and once again dropped to 10k steps per day.  In fact, for a portion of the week I was in first place amongst my friends!  Wanda even sent me a message complaining that I was beating her!  Yep, I was in heaven!!

20140309-201415.jpg

Wow, I cannot believe I’m approaching 900,000 steps and expect to hit it next week!  The finish is within my reach!  Back on March 23rd I was on pace to hit my 1,000,000th step on June 1st, which was 49 days ahead of my original date I anticipated I’d finish!  As of today, I’ll finish in 18 days which will be Thursday, May 22nd or 75 days ahead of my original estimation!

Yep, I’m super excited to be so close to hitting my 1,000,000th step and completing this challenge!  Bring on May 22nd….or just maybe I can complete it earlier….only time will tell!

Last week’s numbers were pretty disappointing, but I found week 18 to be a lot better.  Once again I got my average steps back up to 8,000 which I was ecstatic about!  Below is what week 18 looked like for me:

M2MS; Week 17

20140309-201415.jpg

We will just say that after my successful week 16, week 17 turned out to be a bit of a downer.  No new daily high step count.  No 10,000 steps a day.  And definitely no coming in third place amongst my friends.  Week 17 pretty much sucked for me.  My only saving grace is that week 18 is well underway and I am always looking forward to posting this week’s stats!

There’s no time to fret on last week’s statistics, we’re moving forward.

Onward I go….

M2Ms–Week 16

20140309-201415.jpg

I don’t know what I’m more excited about:

 (1) beating my old daily high step count … by 73 steps I might add … set on Thursday, January 23rd for a new total of 13,898 steps!

(2) increasing my daily step average to 10,000 steps, which I might add is what is recommended for me Smile

 (3) coming in 3rd place this week amongst my friends, sorry Karen for passing you!

Yes, week 16 was pretty good to me! I cannot WAIT to see what week 17 brings…then again maybe I can because the last two weeks have been so fabulous I’d hate to crash!  Oh well, it’s worth the chance since I’m only 255,631 steps away from my 1 millionth one!

M2MS–Week 15

20140309-201415.jpg

Can I just say that I am exhausted after an extremely busy weekend cleaning out my grandma’s house in preparation for her moving.  Not only did I help, but also began prepping for a huge garage sale we will be holding this coming weekend.  The constant moving of stuff definitely helped up my steps this week!  I have once again upped my daily average back to 9k steps per day! Yay!

I also just realized that this was my best week ever!  In fact, I beat my previous weekly high by over 10,000 steps!  Needless to say week 15 was a fantastic one!  I’m excited to move on to week 16!

M2MS–Week 14

20140309-201415.jpg

Last week I mentioned that I broke down and purchased a new battery for my Fitbit.  I’m cheap and wanted to use as much of the battery up as I could before putting the new one in.  However on Wednesday I waited to long and my battery died…even worse I lost steps

Yes, I had been warned and should have just inserted the new battery when I bought it but I didn’t.  As I left work on Wednesday afternoon I checked my Fitbit and I was at about 8,000 steps but it never would sync to my phone.  At that point I decided I needed to replace the battery, the time had come.  By the time I got home and got around to changing it, it had already died Sad smile Not only had it died, but I lost 4,000 steps.  Since I hadn’t synced it with my phone for several hours it didn’t register the last 4,000 steps I had done.

Sigh. This week I get an asterisk by my Wednesday total.  Officially my Fitbit read 4,097 so that’s what I recorded for my daily total, but I know that I was at 8,000 steps….annoying.  Oh well, lesson learned.  I say that a lot don’t I?  One would think I’d learn!

Other than losing steps, week 14 wasn’t one of my best, but I’m still on track to hit my 1 millionth step soon!  Wahooo!
