Pirate Party!

(((((YOU ARE NOW GOING BACK IN TIME TO SEPTEMBER 11, 2011)))))

Ahhh, the sun is shining.  The weather is warm.  I’m wearing shorts, a tank top and my favorite flip flops.

We’re BBQing, jumping in the jumpy house, having water balloon fights and swinging on the swings!

Don’t you wish it was summer again?  I do!

On September 11, we celebrated Aiden, Connor, Annika & Mackenzie’s birthday’s all together in typical Munro extravagant fashion!  Do you remember the party from last year, when we had our own miniature circus? Well this years party was a close tie – if not surpassing the magnitude and amazingness for a child’s birthday party!

This year’s theme was PIRATES.

Julia, once again, went all out planning the worlds most amazing party E-V-E-R.  She had every little detail planned and it all coordinated back to the Pirate theme – and I mean EVERYTHING!  Julia is an amazing party planner, but I’m a big part of the actual logistical aspects of the party.  Needless to say, I take partial credit for its fantabulousness!  Julia’s ideas.  My execution.

My awesome sign that told the Pirates where to park and how to enter the ship!

At the front door the kids had to dress-up like pirates!  They needed a hook, eye patch, hat, bandana and of course a tattoo!

2

At the same time they picked up their treasure hunt list and Pirate Loot Bag!

3

Upon walking the gangplank, the Pirates entered the ship!

4

You could find me out on the gangplank passing out loot bags at the beginning of the party!

Once inside, the party started!

6

Pirate food with Pirate-y names!

And of course the FUN & GAMES!

A bouncy house!

Happy 7th Birthday, Connor!14

Happy 4th Birthday, Mackenzie & Annika!

Happy 7th Birthday, Aiden!9

We of course, cannot forget the pirate cupcake cake!

Plus singing Happy Birthday to all four!16

Ahhh….it was a beautiful day and an awesome party!

Triplet Photo Shoot: Take 2 *Photo Challenge: White*

Early this spring, I took the triplets out for an impromptu photo shoot, to play around with my brand new Nikon D5000

It had been several months since I’d tried to do another photo session with the independent trio, but I was willing to try!  Plus I figured bribery (aka gum) would get them to be perfect little subjects while I played with my camera.  Anyone who knows me, knows I’m known for having gum with me at all times.  The triplets especially know this and constantly use it to their advantage!  Bad Nanny.  I know!

Well the gum did work.  Sort of. It also backfired on me…

gummy faces

Yep…most of my pictures had a fourth star … the gum!

After I deleted all the pictures of the trio chomping on his or her gum, I was left with a disappointing amount of photos!  Lesson Learned!

I still need to figure out lighting and shades.  It’s hard when they move so fast, and I was often unable to avoid the shade at different locations!  Oh well…still learning!

I’d love to take an online photography class if you know of one, please share it with me!!!

Onto the, Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge’s week #6!  I missed last week’s “brown” theme, I just ran out of time.  But stay tuned, I have pictures that I plan on putting up TOMORROW!  I may not be able to officially link-up with Brown Week, but I will have finished another week of the challenge!

Here are the infamous crazy trio I call Jack, Nate & Gabrielle, sporting white outfits, prefect for pictures!!!

Bouquet *Photo Challenge: Purple*

All week long I have been dreading this week’s color challenge of purple.

I kept asking myself, what does Fall and Purple have to do with each other?  Kristi, Alicia and Rebecca must have gone crazy when they chose purple as a shade of fall!

I thought and thought and thought about it, trying to come up with an idea – but nothing.  Other than going to the grocery store and photographing a purple eggplant.  Why eggplant?  I have no idea because I don’t believe I’ve ever even had one!  However, that still was what came to mind.  Anyway…

Today I spent sleeping, procrastinating, surfing the net, tweeting, watching TV writing my final midterm paper for my Media & Communications class.  During that same time I was still thinking about purple, but I was also realizing that I would have no time to go out and photograph anything purple … I wouldn’t even have time to run to the grocery store to photograph those eggplants.  I was bummed, I had yet to miss a week, but it was appearing like this week would be the first.  I even tweeted Alicia & Kristi asking how long their submission linky would be open for this week’s challenge.  To my amazement, it was open until Wednesday at midnight.  Yay!  There was still hope for me not missing a week!

Before submitting my paper I ran to my mom’s house to have her proofread it along with a conference call with my school’s writing center to critique my paper.

[Side Note: the Writing Center was blown away, about how great my paper was!  If only she knew I threw it together in like two hours!  Makes me wonder what my paper would have been like if I had actually put time into Smile ha-ha!]

As I walked out the door to head back home, I noticed a new bouquet display hanging by the front door.  Guess what color that bouquet was?  [I’m sure you’re right, but ….] PURPLE!

I set my laptop on the front porch, still open with my midterm not yet submitted.  Grabbed my camera and began to take pictures.  However, I quickly realized it was way to dark outside to take quality photos, so I moved the bouquet inside , carried it up to my old bedroom and began shooting pictures!  Suddenly I had PURPLE PICTURES!!

Once I got home, I submitted my paper and then couldn’t wait to work on my pictures and get them up and posted!!

Oh and YES, I finished and submitted my midterm!  YAY!!!

Beautiful Tree Lined Streets *Photo Challenge: Red*

I grew up in a beautiful tree lined street in a very Mayberry like town.  Watching these picture perfect trees turn from stunning green to yellow to orange and now to red is beautiful to watch.  The leaves are now beginning to fall and cover the grass in a rainbow of red, orange, yellow and green leaves.

Gorgeous!

I love where I live?!  Can you blame me?

DSC_0082DSC_0083DSC_0090DSC_0089Miss Gabrielle had to get her picture taken as well!

Last week Kristi gave a great Autumn Photo Tip

Autumn Photography Tip:

Gather a few autumn leaves, tape them to a clean window and photograph them when it’s sunny out. The sunlight will reveal a variety of deep, bold colors.

I gave it a try today with some red leaves. However, I couldn’t find a window that didn’t have “stuff” outside it (trees, swimming pool, swing set, etc.!)!!  Anyway, here’s my attempt!!

Pumpkin Patch Pickings *Photo Challenge: Orange*

I have totally lucked out when it comes to taking for the Shades of Fall Photo Challenge!  The sun was shining high and warming up the area, during the last three Tuesday’s that I have gone out to take pictures!  I can’t have asked for better weather!

Today, Alex and I headed out to the pumpkin patch to take some pictures of all the fall beauty wrapped in stunning orange!

Emilia’s Little Bit of Sunshine *Photo Challenge: Yellow*

It was a BEAUTIFUL day out in Seattle today (like near 70*!), perfect for some outside shots!  My initial plan was to head back down to the pipeline, and take pictures of the trees turning yellow – but they hadn’t began to change … go figure.  So then I went into my backup mode.  Amy was with me with her adorable niece Emilia, who just happened to be wearing a yellow cloth diaper.  We wandered down to the beach along the river and she had fun playing in the sand while Amy & I tried to get her to smile and look at the camera (while making sure the triplets didn’t decide to go for a swim).

Thanks Kim for letting me take photos of Emilia, she is so adorable!  Love her!!

I also put the photos into black and white and highlighted the yellow of her diaper.  I don’t think that totally breaks the rules, because I didn’t re-color … but you know me, I like to make my own rules about things and really don’t care!

Pipeline Pictures *Photo Challenge: Green*

All weekend I spent thinking about “what would I photograph that was green?”  I suddenly realized that there is nothing more beautiful where I live then the Pipeline.

While the Pipeline, sounds like a horribly ugly location, pipelines, seriously?  Beautiful?  Well in our area the Pipeline is a beautiful trail that runs parallel to the Snoqualmie River (and above the pipeline!).

I now had a location, but had yet to have a time to go and take photos.  However, this morning I woke up way to early even for a school morning.  After I tried numerous times to roll back over and fall asleep I had no luck.  I finally decided to get up and get going to school, and maybe *gasp* be EARLY!

As I was about to walk out the door, I saw my camera bag and realized this would be the perfect time to visit the Pipeline and get some beautiful photographs!  I mean, it was a crisp, Fall morning in the Pacific Northwest.  We had a big storm last night (which caused us to lose power, thus the reason I was awake) and were currently in between the last storm and the next one.  Perfect for some lovely green photos of the Shades of Autumn in my town.

Grabbed my camera and headed to the Pipeline!
