The Amy Curse–Now Broken!

If your stopping by for So Followed Saturday, the linky is in the next post!

************

Amy & I try to go to a few Mariners games a year and throughout the years we’ve been to quite a few games.  However one thing was still missing … the Mariners had never won when Amy was present!  The girl was serious bad luck.  It got to the point where her family & I would joke “Amy you can’t go, you’ll just cause them to lose”, but Amy was determined to break that stereotype and see a winning game!

She got her wish and on Friday, June 3 the Mariners beat the Tampa Bay Rays and finally broke the Amy Curse!

Not only did the Mariners win, they SMOAKed [a pun off Mariners player Justin Smoak’s last name) Tampa Bay, winning 7-0!  Not only were the Mariners playing errorless baseball, but homeruns were hit by Justin Smoak, Adam Kennedy and Miguel Olivo.

Safeco Field was absolutely electrifying!  The energy was out of this world!  It was a fantastic game to attend and for the Amy Curse to officially be broken!!

Opening Night Pomp & Circumstance

5Wow!  I’ve never seen such an AWFUL game in my life, or have I left a baseball so early!  In one inning the Cleveland Indians scored 10 – TEN – 10 runs against us….in ONE INNING!  I know, doesn’t seem possible does it?!  Well it happened and it SUCKED!  Amy and stayed until the Indians scored their 12th run in the top of the 5th!  We weren’t alone when we left, I’d say about half the stadium cleared out at the same time!

As we were descending down the stairs to the exists, a grey haired security guard stopped us to make small talk and said “when that inning started, I had dark hair…now I’m all grey!”  His comment sums up the whole game!!

However, in all honestly, I didn’t’ go to watch the game, I went to witness the tribute to the great Mariners broadcaster, Dave Niehaus, who died in late November of a heart attack.  Niehaus had been the voice of the Mariners since the very first Mariners game in 1997.  The Mariners described him as the official patriarch of the franchise.

The Mariners and Seattle went all out to show their love of Above the broadcasters booth in Safeco Field, there is a permanent sign remembering Niehaus.  During the 2011 baseball season all Mariners will wear a commemorative patch on their right arm.  That same patch was blown up and is being displayed behind Ichiro in right field.  The City of Seattle and State of Washington declared that day (April 8, 2011), Dave Niehaus Day.  The city went one step farther and unofficially renamed the street in front of Safeco Field, Dave Niehaus Way.  They did a musical tribute and then his wife through out the first pitch, with all their kids and grandkids beside her.  It was very touching, I found myself tearing up!  That right there was worth going!

In addition to Niehaus’ tribute, there were awards to be given away, Franklin Gutierrez and Ichiro received their Gold Glove Awards (11th consecutive for Ichiro!)  Even after a horrible record last season, Felix Hernandez won the Cy Young Award, so he was present with his award too!

The pre-game show was a lot of fun!  The game was fun too, Amy & I enjoyed just having a girls night out!  We did leave in the 5th, not just because of the score (that didn’t’ help, but also it was FREEZING outside and windy!  We were freezing and even after hot chocolate we still will cold.  So bad game + freezing cold = home early!

Hopefully one of these days the Mariners can figure things out, they just lost their 6th straight game and currently are 2-6…fantastic huh!?!  If we continue at this rate, this could be a really long and depressing season!  Come On Mariners!

CKC 2010 Scrapbooking Layouts

Wow, what a whirlwind weekend at the Creating Keepsakes Convention in Bellevue!  Brandi and I cropped and shopped until we dropped … yes I should go into poetry I know!  Anyway, this year I’m excited to say I “won” and did the most layouts between the two of us!  We both did 8 legitimate layouts (pages), but I did one pre-done one that I just stuck photos to, to win the race!  YAY ME!  (Yes, everything is a competition between my cousin and I!  Who was the subject of the most layouts?  Emmalee.  Poor Emma has basically ZERO pages to her name, while Miss Madison has probably 6 entire full albums just of her (she has 2 of just her first year!)….so it was definitely Emma’s turn to get some layouts done!

Buy Me Some Peanuts and Cracker Jacks…..

I don’t care if I ever get back, for it’s root, root, root for the MARINERS!!!!!!

Yep, this weekend I went to the Mariners game!  I was lucky to be given A.M.A.Z.I.N.G tickets from Bruce & Mary who have season tickets!  Jaime, Maddie, Amy & I all went and had an amazing time!!  The weather was beautiful, the game was fun, the food was yummy, oh and did I mention we WON!!!

Mariners - Mad

mariners- great plays

Did I mention….We WON??!!!  Here’s Madison’s victory dance….(Don’t worry, the video is flipped when you watch it, just not in the preview for some odd reason!)

After the game was over kids 14 and under got to go on the field and run the bases!  Madison was so excited to get to do so!!  It was fun to be able to be on the field and run around with her, or should I say try to catch her!!

Thanks again Bruce & Mary for the tickets, if you ever need anyone to take them off your hands again, please let me know!  XOXO!

Mariners Birthday Baseball Game

Tonight marks the end of another birthday of mine.  We went for my annual birthday Mariners game, and am sad to report that the M’s lost miserably to the New York Yankees..booh-hiss!!  Even though we lost, we still had a lot of fun!

Dad, Alex, Zak, Jaime, Brandi, Amy & I all went.  The game was boring because it we were losing, but there’s nothing better then people watching and eating yummy baseball food!  The highlight probably was when a group got escorted out of our section by the Alcohol Enforcement people.  It caused quite  a scene where we were sitting while they were getting to the bottom of whatever was going on!  In the end it looked like a group of people smuggled in Vodka into the Stadium leading to their quick dismissal.  I want to know how they were able to get it in the stadium.  Amy brought snacks for herself and had an ice pack with it and was questioned at the entrance for “why her bag was cold”.  So it amazes me that they were able to get the Vodka in.

Fun game even though we lost!!  Thanks everyone for coming and celebrating my birthday (once again) with me!!

I’m still working on the Miley Cyrus Concert post…it has a lot of pictures that I’m trying to put into a montage so it doesn’t take up so much room on my blog!  So hopefully tomorrow!!

Wow…I like this font a lot :)

Brain Freeze…or Lack of Brain?

Ugh…I had a total brain fart tonight!! I was following Brandi to Monroe tonight and we were talking about going to the Mariners game tomorrow night. She then asked me “you know where the tickets are right”. Of course I knew where they were, I’d been looking at them every single time I open my wallet for the past week and a half…happily sitting in their Ticket Master Envelope!! But I figured I should double check, so while driving in the dark and talking to Brandi I reach for my purse in the backseat and start going through my wallet (safe I know!). Which to my shock they weren’t there!

I immediately tell Brandi I have to pull over and look for the tickets. So we both pull into a parking lot and start pulling my car apart. We spent a good 15 minutes looking and finally came to the realization they weren’t there (that or it was way to dark to tell). I decide to call The Mariners Team Store in Bell Square and hope they are open (it is 9:50pm) to see if they can re-issue my tickets. Thankfully they were open (soooo lucky), and they said they couldn’t re-issue the tickets, but I could do it at Safeco Field. So I decided I would just do that if I had too. So we started back towards Monroe.

Driving home I decide to give Jaime a call to make sure I hadn’t given her the tickets (I hadn’t), so I decided “oh well, we’ll just get them tomorrow before the game”. We made it to the Condo and Brandi & I once again pull my car apart (this time cleaning it out too…see I had a plan haha) and still no tickets. So as we’re walking inside, Brandi tells me “just call your house and double check they aren’t there”. She had already told me to do it once, but I KNEW they WERE NOT THERE. But I had no other choice, and figured I had nothing to lose (except for her to be right). So I called home.

Alex answered and before I had even spit out my whole “will you see if you can find my Mariners tickets”. Alex said, “you mean these tickets sitting right here?”. Ugh…I vaguely remember setting them on the desk by the front door. Apparently I decided the tickets were safer inside (why on the desk, to be lost I have no clue) and brought them in. Overall I have NO recollection of doing so, but apparently I did.

I am totally losing it! But on the bright side I have the tickets! It will make for a far less stressful day tomorrow!

Movin’ On Up – Part II & My Oh My Mariners

Movin’ On Up – Part II

Yep, it’s official … I’m now #5 on the SPU Nursing Waiting list!  Just 5 people need to quit now and I am in…it seems like just yesterday I was Movin’ On Up to spot #6!!

Last week when I got the email that my status had changed I was at the “Green Park” with the triplets sitting on the weird bouncy trampoline wannabee thingy.  And sure enough, today I once again was sitting there when I got the email!!  Guess I need to hang out there more often!

My Oh My Mariners

The 2009 Seattle Mariners are AWESOME!  They are now 7-2, and have won their last 6 games!!  We are in first place and actually look like a real team!!  Tonight there were a couple of really cool events that happened!

  1. Ken Griffey, Jr. hit his 400th homerun as a Seattle Mariner  – 400 homeruns, that’s just insane!  He is definitely boosting morale of the team and the fans!!  So far his arrival back in Seattle has been nothing but positive and uplifting!
  2. Ichiro hit a GRAND SLAM in his first game of the 2009 season – Ichiro has been on the disabled list all season until this point – so today was his 2009 debut and in typical Ichiro fashion he made it BIG!

The Mariners went on to beat the Angels 11-3!!  Can’t wait to see what they can do again tomorrow night!!

PLAY BALL & More Sewing

Today was the Mariners Season Opener and they WON!! We are now 1-0, wahoooo!! There is nothing more enjoyable then baseball season…and summer! It also was Ken Griffey, Jr’s. first game back as a Mariner and he hit a HOMERUN!! Welcome back Junior!! The Mariners Home Opener isn’t until next week, that will be cool to see how the fans react to Griffey. Apparently Safeco Field is already sold out. I can’t wait until I get to go to a game!!

I also did some more sewing today and made a bib with a matching burp rag. I’m really proud of these two!! I actually really like them!

IMG_0181 I used pink and brown polka dot fabric with the a terrycloth material on the back. I then used 3 different pink ribbons and sewed them onto the bottom. To finish it off, I even sewed Velcro onto the bib!! I really like it :)

Got Me A Blackberry

I feel so cool now that I got myslf a blackberry!! This phone is awesome, I am totally loving it! I now just need to master the full keyboard for texting while driving I ordered a couple of hardshells off of ebay to try and protect it from myself! I have managed to go 5 days with only dropping it one time – for me that’s amazing!

This past weekend my mom and dad went out of town (or 2 towns over) to celebrate my dad’s birthday (50 ). So Alex & I spent a few days with Jaime & Zak. We went shopping and then the Mariners game on Saturday night (they lost in the 14th ). Then yesterday Alex & I went to church and then just hung out watching the Olympics.

Speaking of the Olympics…Alex & I were watching the Synchronized Diving last night and decided – we could do that! Until we realized a couple of things… (1) neither of us is that coordinated (2) neither of us are very graceful divers but other then that we’re ready for the Olympics!!
