Easter At Sea

DSC_0581_thumb.jpg

Today was our second sea day and Easter.  The day started like any other day, as people wake up we drag ourselves out to the Haven for breakfast.  Here’s a lovely photo of most of us not long after getting up!

DSC_0580DSC_0581

We attended a Jazz Brunch in Le Bistro where they had a live band playing New Orleans jazz while we enjoyed a delicious smorgasbord…I say smorgasbord because it was an odd paring of food even for brunch – there’s nothing like waffles & eggs with a side of penne pasta!

After brunch we played what seemed like hours of cards before heading to an extremely overpriced game of BINGO where we were all big losers.  The highlight of my day was putting in $10 into a slot machine and with a .30c pull won $48!!  I can definitely see how gambling is addicting, it was hard to cash out and not just “try one more time!”.

Apparently the distance between Cagliari (where we were yesterday) and Palermo (where we go tomorrow) isn’t very far, so we spent a good portion of the day just bobbing along.  They turned off the motors and we just sat for hours so we didn’t get to far ahead!  Tomorrow morning we dock in Palermo, Italy and then onto Naples on Tuesday to see Pompeii!

Good night!

Irish Dancers

wpid-Photo-Mar-16-2015-1022-PM.jpg

Top of the mornin’ to ya and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Have you ever seen Irish Dancing before? I hadn’t until I watched my friend Wanda’s twins perform last year at a summer event. The girls were absolutely amazing so when I was invited to watch them perform at a St. Patty’s event over the weekend I jumped at the chance to go; once again I was blown away by the talent of these two 14-year-old dancers. With today being St. Patrick’s Day I knew I wanted to share their talent with you!

Check them out in action in this video, you will be a-mazed! (Note: I’ve tried over and over to get this video to start at that right point, but have had no luck so you’ll have to fast-forward to the 3:00 mark to see Isabel and Olivia dance.)

Pretty amazing aren’t they?!

While most 5-year-old little girls can’t wait to begin ballet, identical twins Isabel and Olivia fell in love with Irish dancing. In their matching outfits and hair tied up in a bow these adorable girls began Irish Dancing lessons.

It wasn’t long before this talented duo began entering (and winning) competitions all across the country with trophies and awards to prove their talent.

The video I posted at the beginning was actually taken two years ago and it’s hard to believe that they could be any better, but they are! Below are a couple of more recent photos of the girls, and while they don’t dress alike all that often anymore, they are as elegant as ever.

These 14-year-old young women are absolutely amazing.

Thank you to Isabel and Olivia for sharing their talent. I just wish I had an ounce of the grace and coordination that they have! I struggle just walking without tripping over my own feet! I am completely in awe of their talent and charisma! And thank-you Wanda for introducing me to Irish Dancing!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

post-day354-dec20_thumb.png

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Oh wait, what’s that date say?  February 16th?!  Hmmm….guess I’m slightly late! The good news is it Week 51 of my 365 day photo challenge from 2014!  It may be mid-February, but I’m still plowing away at getting the photos blogged, but I did complete the challenge!  I *hope* to get my final week of photos up this week and then my rewind post shortly there after!

February 16th also has an important day in my house and this year even more!  Today is my parents 30th Wedding Anniversary!  Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad!

In the meantime, back to Christmastime!

#CatchTheMoment365; Week 49

post-day343-dec9_thumb.png

Whoa, look that’s two posts in two days.  Something must be terribly wrong with me!  No, more like tomorrow is December 31st and I’m three weeks behind on posting my Catch the Moment photos to the blog.  I had hope to get all caught up, but it just never happened.  The good news is the last three weeks won’t be far behind!

Week 49 contained a lot of Christmas from movies, looking at Christmas lights, putting up the tree and helping at a holiday gift program that allowed parents in need to pick out new gifts for the kids.  It was truly a magical week!

Oh, and make sure you stop by tomorrow to see my 2014 in Review post!  Yes, that will make it three days in a row, maybe even one on January 1st!  Look out!

#CatchTheMoment365; Week 48

post-day337-dec3.png

Oh my, December 29th, how can that be?  How has it been nearly a month since I posted my Week 47 photos?  Oh wait, one word. Christmas.

Like always Christmas came in like a whirlwind leaving destruction of family, presents, food, wrapping paper and overall mess in her path.

That’s how it’s been 25 days since my last post.

Well, actually I can’t blame it all on Christmas, the other factor was work.  Between December 8 and 19th, I worked way to many hours to count between helping the Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank with their Holiday Gift Barn program and Eastside Baby Corner’s dreaded End of Year Inventory, I worked a lot.  The minute I was done with that it was Christmas.

I don’t think I’ve had a second to myself in four weeks.  December will do that to you!  But here was are December 29th, 2014, just 3 days before 2015.  That is crazy.  2015. Mindboggling.

But, before I can make it to 2015, I have some Catch the Moment 365 photos to catch-up on and this post takes us back to the end of November – early December!

Oh and a quick note, on my Wednesday, December 3rd post below I include the link to a Komo News story on Rick Rizzs’ Toys for Kids’ program and how Eastside Baby Corner benefited as a non-profit partner!  Watch the story and see how cool it was to be given $5,000 to shop at Toys ‘R Us for kids in need!  Click HERE or on the photo below to watch the story.

#CatchTheMoment365; Week 47

post-day326-nov22.png

Checkout that date. December 4, 2014. D.E.C.E.M.B.E.R. The 12th Month of the Year.

I love December, it’s the best month of the year, well after August!  I love all the decorations, festivities, time with friends & family, music, remembering Christ, and the presents aren’t that bad either! But before that I have a crazy December ahead of me.

I will be working 60+ hour weeks for the next couple during the busiest time of the year at Eastside Baby Corner.  One of my biggest jobs is coordinating collection drives and 80% of them care delivered in December.  Actually let me rephrase that, 80% of them come in on one day and this year that date is December 18th, the last day we accept donations for 2014.  On top of that we have to do a full inventory of our 8,000 +/- square foot warehouse which always brings out the best in me.  And this year I’m helping the local food bank during their holiday giving program.  Work during December is going to be insane, but before I know it it will be gone, Christmas will be over and we will be waking up in 2015 and that is crazy talk!

Pumpkin Poop

DSC_0004.jpg

or more commonly known as pumpkin guts!

Sweet Emmalee was excited to scoop out the Pumpkin Poop tonight when they came over to carve pumpkins!

I think this was the first year that the girls actually partook in the actual pumpkin carving process.  In the past they have enjoyed the idea of scooping out the “pumpkin poop” and carving the pumpkin, but once the tops were cut off the pumpkin and they looked inside they quickly changed their minds!  Chickens!

2014 was a whole new year for them.  This year they were all in!  The both scooped their pumpkins and then assisted in the carving of them!

Emmalee chose to draw a face on her pumpkin and Brandi carved it out, while Maddie & I each picked a pattern off the internet and carved them.  In the end I think all three turned out pretty darn well!

Mason didn’t help, but did enjoy emptying out my mom’s linen napkin drawer, throwing the napkin rings all over the kitchens and watching them roll across the floor!  He did join in for a couple of photos on the front porch after they were done.

Pumpkins from left to right: Maddie’s witch, my owl and Emmalee’s queen!

Every loved the final products, especially the girls when we lit the candles and turned off the lights!  Mason enjoyed the pumpkins until we turned the lights out and then he panicked.

I hope you all have a wonderful, safe and DRY Halloween!
