#CatchTheMoment365 ~ Week 38

I spent a majority of this week prepping for my presentation at the National Diaper Bank Networks’ 3rd annual Diaper Banks of America conference.  The amount of time it took to pull together my notes, design my PowerPoint and begin memorizing it took a very long time; a lot longer than I thought it would!  Every day I would work at least four hours working on it so it would be perfect when it came time to present.

The rest of the week was spent with friends, family and of course work!  Week 38 was another great one for me!

Catch the Moment 365

with Mindi at Simply Stavish, Sarah at Nurse Loves Farmer, and Stephanie at Behind the Camera and Dreaming.

How does this work?  Everyday I am posting a new pic to Instagram, Twitter and my personal Facebook page with the hash tags #365DaysofCori and the official challenge hash tag #catchthemoment365.  On Friday’s I will do a recap of the previous week’s photos and *hopefully* give a little more insight into each one, why I took them and any history behind them.

40+ Years of Love Necklace Lost! Help!

During my morning scroll through my Facebook newsfeed, I came across a post from my friend Kim asking for votes (likes) for her mom to win a necklace.

Normally I would vote for my friend and continue scrolling but there was something about this specific post that resonated with me and I wanted to do more. I asked Kim for more information on the story and she shared this:

My mom has worn this cross ever since I can remember, given to her by my father before they were married- over 40 years ago-your spouse is important, but God comes first. 2 months ago my mom came home in tears, while walking her Great Danes they pulled a little too hard and her necklace snapped off. Family, friends, prayers, and a metal detector couldn’t find it. Dad contacted the original jeweler and was able to reproduce the exact necklace from a few pictures- this time mom had tears of joy. Last couple years has been hard for mom, always taking care of my sick dad- I just think it’s time she “wins”.

After I wiped away my tears I knew I wanted to share this story and ask my family, friends and followers to vote for Debbie too. So here I ask you all to take 15 seconds to “like” Debbie’s story and help her win a replica necklace that her husband originally gave to her over 40 years ago.

Voting is EASY, just click HERE or on the photo below and hit “LIKE”. . (You will need to be signed in to vote/like photo.)

Voting ends Wednesday so please vote today!

Paige’s Preposterous Predicament

On Friday, I was a busy, busy bee at work and didn’t sit down at my desk until after 3pm.  When I finally took a breather, I did a phone check and wanted to hear how Julia & Kim’s outing was going at the Children’s Museum – so I sent them a text.  The response I got was not what I was expecting….

Kim responds saying she is sitting in the ER.

At first I think she has to be joking.  I mean, the ER?  They were just in a car accident last week, there is no way that they are taking a return trip to the ER!

I send back a “hahahaha very funny” text, but quickly realized it was true.

Apparently at some point in the last several months her daughter, Paige, had shoved some sort of object, like a bead, into her ear.  The doctor had found it at her well check-up, but couldn’t remove it so they were sitting in the Children’s Hospital ER trying to get it removed.

Luckily, after multiple tries they were able to remove the item…still not sure what it is!

Tomorrow is Paige’s sharing day at school and boy does she have story to tell and will be bringing in the mysterious object, now displayed in a plastic box, with her class!!  Her mom helped her write a fun and witty poem sharing the story behind the small bead like item that they removed from her ear.

I loved the story and asked Kim if she’d be a guest blogger on my blog so I could share the story!  I was thrilled when I got the enthusiastic YES response I was hoping for!  So without further ado, I introduce today’s guest blogger and mommy poem writing extraordinaire, Kim Hoerner with the lovely star of the show, Paige!!

(Please ignore the bad quality of photos…I did my best to keep the poem/story the same as what Paige will be bringing into class tomorrow!  So it is basically copied & pasted, making it not the best quality, the original is MUCH clearer and cleaner!!)

Thanks for a great, blog-worthy story, Paige!

Have you had a similar story?  Was it you who did it?  Your child?  Your friend?  I’d love to hear more stories of “survival” Smile

Cousins Christmas Party

Returning to Spokane….

On the Saturday of our Spokane trip, a few days after Christmas Day, we had a Cousins Christmas Party.

I am lucky that in my “real” family I grew up with cousins around.  On my dad’s side of the family I have cousins that live nearby but are slightly older then me.  On my mom’s side I have cousins my same age, but we live all across the country and only saw each other once a year.  I never had cousins that were my same age and grade, however these cousins get both!  Cousins their age that live close by!  How cool is that?

The cousins come in packs…three to be exact – five that fall in the 7-9 age category, four in the five year old age and four who are between 0-3.  THIRTEEN cousins all between 8 months old and 9 years old!  That is just too cool!

Anyway, back to the day of the party…..

Each cousin had a Secret Santa they bought for and it was at the party that the gifts were given out!  However, before the gift exchange we had some fun.  One fun thing that was done was an impromptu game of Musical Chairs!  The kids thought this was a BLAST!!

Paige (bottom left) was the big winner of round one and Kaden (bottom right) won round two!  Both were super excited and proud of themselves for outlasting twelve other contestants!

While the kids went round and round I got to do my favorite thing in the world….be bossy and loud!  I got the job of running the music and coordinating the game!  However, I was nice and once a kid went out, I let them control the power [music].  Not only was this fun for the kids, but it also helped boost enjoyment for the kid who went out the previous round!  Win, Win!

After two rounds of Musical Chairs it was time for the main event…PRESENTS!  The gifts were a hit for everyone!

…and of course there were plenty of photo-ops!

Another fun day!  Stay tuned for more Spokane fun!

My Little Blog Assistant

Tonight I was doing some photo editing for an upcoming blog post … well to be honest it was supposed to be this one, but I’m tired and lazy, so it will have to wait! I digress …

I’ve been spending the nights at Kim’s house to help her with the kids and their nighttime routines. Kim’s still hurting really bad from the car accident they were in while we were vacationing in Spokane after Christmas.

I’ve been coming by after work, helping and then come bedtime I’m pooped…I’m not sure how working mothers do it, this is a lot of work!

Tonight Sydney was pretty fussy so I held her and *tried* to continue editing, but my little friend decided to help!

However, blogging must not be her thing because before I knew it she was snoring! I’m not sure if blogging was just to much work for her or so boring she fell asleep!

Regardless, I didn’t get the blog post done and instead I’m writing this post using my left hand (I’m a righty) on my phone, while my other arm continues to rock Sydney.

This is so much better than blogging! I’d hold a sleeping baby anytime!!

You’ll have to wait a little bit longer for the rest of my Spokane pictures!

Spokane Car Accident & Cousins Day

Last Thursday I made another trip with Julia and the kids to Spokane. This trip was a little bit different then usual because Kim and her family were joining us!  A fun family trip!

Our big plans on Friday was to go up to Mt. Spokane and go sledding.  It took quite a bit of time to get everyone up and dressed for the snow, before we set off.

As soon as we got in the car and were pulling out of the driveway, we got a call from Kim who said they (Kim, her husband Jason and their four kids) had just been in a really bad car accident.

Sudden change of plans.

As fast as we could, we unloaded all the kids and snow stuff, left them with Julia’s cousin, Dana and headed to the crash scene.

We had no idea what to expect when we arrived.  We had had some contact with Kim and Jason, but weren’t clear on how bad it was.  We were shocked when we pulled up and saw the entire passenger side of the van (brand spankin’ new van, I might add!) extremely dented, scraped and side-curtain airbags deployed.

Their van was t-boned, while they were driving about 50mph.  You can just see where the other car pulled out and directly into their car.  Driving straight into the back sliding door with the main impact hitting the passenger side door.

Miraculously, nobody was seriously injured.  Kim sustained the most injuries (she was in the passenger seat), but compared to how bad it could have been, her injuries aren’t that bad.  The entire family was extremely lucky.  Thank goodness for a solid van, air bags that deployed like they were supposed, seat belts and car seats for all four kids.

Our plans changed quickly!  Instead of going sledding Julia and I brought all Kim’s kids back to Dana’s house while Kim went to the hospital to be checked out.  We got back to the house and had a fun laid back cousins day!  There were 13 cousins all 9-years-old and under in that home!  It was loud and crazy, but so much fun!

The car accident was the big event of the long weekend, but don’t worry we had several more days of fun to go!  Stay tuned!

P.S. Happy Birthday, Julia!!

Sweet Sydney

Love this little girl!

I was supposed to be in the OR when she was born, but due to a last minute decision by the anesthesiologist I couldn’t Sad smile I did wait in the recovery room for her and get to see her when she was just minutes old!!

She’s a doll!  Cannot believe she is already 7 months old!  Time flies!

Reese Turns 2!!

On Saturday, I got to celebrate the sweet, sassy and spunky Miss Reese Julia’s 2nd birthday with her!  This girl cracks me up…total attitude and control for only being 2…reminds me a lot of myself!  She is one strong willed, adorably special, little girl!  Love her!

Kim also thought it would be fun to wrap me up in toilet and crepe paper….the kids thought this was HILARIOUS and a lot of fun!  Good thing I’m a good sport Smile

But, what was more fun was the fight we had after!

reese 2 paper

A cool side-note….Reese has an older brother, Quinten, who is 11 months older then him (he turned 2 HERE, last year while I was in Texas!) and for the next 22 days they BOTH will be 2 years old!  They are almost Irish Twins…would have had to have been born in the same year to be official Irish Twins….very cool none the less!  Oh and yes, they are biological siblings Smile
