#CatchTheMoment365; Week 23

day162; june11

If I were you I would just click “next” and view my previous blog post as this one is extremely boring.  I thought I had posted boring Catch the Moment 365 posts in the past but this one takes the cake!

Nothing and I mean NOTHING happened this week, wait I do take that back, on Wednesday I got pretty fabulous news about being invited to speak at a national conference for The National Diaper Bank Network on social media at their 3rd annual conference in November in Kansas City.  Other than that exciting news it was a week of a lot of food photos and none of them overly inspiring!

Take a look for yourself at my 23rd week of 2014:

How does this work?  Everyday I am posting a new pic to Instagram, Twitter and my personal Facebook page with the hash tags #365DaysofCori and the official challenge hash tag #catchthemoment365.  On Friday’s I will do a recap of the previous week’s photos and *hopefully* give a little more insight into each one, why I took them and any history behind them.

Happy Friday!

2013 Mariners Games, thus far!

It’s no secret, I love me some Mariners baseball!  We don’t have the best record in baseball, but we’re doing okay…feel free to stop the snickering now!  Even though our season has been less then stellar, there is still nothing better then an afternoon or evening at the ballpark!  This year I’ve made it to four different games, with a couple more being planned!

LOVE Summertime!

LOVE Mariners!

LOVE Summertime Mariners Baseball!

April 17th ~ Seattle 1 – Detroit Tigers 2

While Alex was home for Spring Break, we got tickets in the King’s Court to root on Felix and the Mariners!  While we didn’t win Sad smile, we did have a GREAT time and made the jumbotron many times! I I tweeted the pic of Alex & I (below) with the #mariners hash tag and our picture and my tweet made the jumbotron!  That was pretty cool and yes, I felt pretty special!

April 28th ~ Seattle 6 – Las Angeles Angels 0

For National Volunteer Appreciation Week, I attended the game along with other Eastside Baby Corner volunteers and employees!  We had a great time rooting on the Mariners as an organization and celebrating all the amazing volunteers EBC has!  Oh, it also helped that we WON!

In this photo, Amy & I were trying to take a picture and the guys behind us jumped in and photo-bombed it!

May 11th ~ Seattle 3 – Oakland Athletics 4

This was a game where Brandi and I took the girls too!  A friend’s son Xander’s, elementary school choir was chosen to sing the national anthem before the game! So we went to support him, but also to have some fun and enjoy some evening baseball!  We knew Madison would do fine, we weren’t so sure about Emmalee, but to our surprise she did really well too and also had fun!

June 25th ~ Seattle 4 – Pittsburg Pirates 9

I have to brag about these seats…they were six rows behind the Mariners dugout!  EBC has a volunteer couple with amazing season tickets and I mentioned that I’d love to go if they ever were unable to make a game!  To my excitement, they had tickets to a game a few days later that they were looking for someone to take!  I happily bought the tickets from them and invited Amy to come along with me!  While the game wasn’t fantastic, the seats were amazing, we could SEE the Mariners up close!  It was awesome!  I have tickets to go again and sit in the same seats in early August!  I cannot wait!

So my record for 2013 for wins isn’t great….but we are just starting the second half of the season….there’s plenty of time to make it a winning season Smile

Crying Baby Photo Contest

crying baby contestSo my favorite local radio station is hosting a Crying Baby Photo Contest.  When I heard the announcement I immediately turned up the volume to hear all about it!

The contest: post your best crying baby photo!

Immediately I knew the photo I wanted to submit!

Back in 2009, I was watching Amy’s girls and I took them to a local kids play place for the day.  Her youngest, Jordyn, was only 4-months old, so I was wearing her in a Baby Bjorn.  At some point, Jordyn got MAD and like any super nice human being I took a photo!  It’s a self-portrait of Jordyn screaming and looking like she is going to punch me in the face!

crying jordyn

Unfortunately I don’t qualify.  The baby must be no older than three years old TODAY, Jordyn just turned 4 :( I think that is the stupidest rule!  The rule should be the child can’t be older than three IN THE PICTURE!

I’m not happy because I know we would have won!

Freakin’ annoying.

Stupid rules.

Not that I’m bitter or anything?!

What are your thoughts?  Think Jordyn & I could have won the grand prize?  Do you have any fun screaming photos of your kids?!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION [4/24/13 @ 7:59am]

Last night I posted on the DJ’s Facebook page my complaint about the rule….Here’s the response I got…

My complaint and Bender's initial response....

My complaint and Bender’s initial response….

So like any bitter-I’m always right person would do, I responded back INCLUDING the small print of THEIR rules…

Trying to prove Bender wrong....

Trying to prove Bender wrong….

Will my plea work?  Was I right and Bender was wrong?  Now we wait to hear his response….fingers crossed that I just can’t read and we can still submit the photo (by 5pm tonight!)…..but I’m pretty certain I am right.  I always am, after all…

Stay tuned….

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION [4/24/13 @ 8:33pm]

I’m happy to announce that I was right and the rules did state that the child must be 36months or younger TODAY and not in the photo.  Bender responded and apologized for providing the wrong information.  That helped…a little.

Yep, I was right...

Yep, I was right…

Well in the end I DIDN’T enter the contest.  BUT I did get to “talk” to Bender….

Emilia’s Little Bit of Sunshine *Photo Challenge: Yellow*

It was a BEAUTIFUL day out in Seattle today (like near 70*!), perfect for some outside shots!  My initial plan was to head back down to the pipeline, and take pictures of the trees turning yellow – but they hadn’t began to change … go figure.  So then I went into my backup mode.  Amy was with me with her adorable niece Emilia, who just happened to be wearing a yellow cloth diaper.  We wandered down to the beach along the river and she had fun playing in the sand while Amy & I tried to get her to smile and look at the camera (while making sure the triplets didn’t decide to go for a swim).

Thanks Kim for letting me take photos of Emilia, she is so adorable!  Love her!!

I also put the photos into black and white and highlighted the yellow of her diaper.  I don’t think that totally breaks the rules, because I didn’t re-color … but you know me, I like to make my own rules about things and really don’t care!

Hope you have a wonderful birthday!!!

Spray Down!

Up until the last couple of weeks, we could count the number of nice days on one hand!

Sad isn’t it?

Amazingly enough we had gorgeous weather on MY BIRTHDAY!  It was a miracle!

I worked the day of my birthday and in the afternoon Amy, Jordyn & Camryn and Alex with her kids she watches came over to surprise me and have an impromptu birthday party!  After the brownies and celebrating we took all the kids outside to play in the sprinkler.

In the past this “snake sprinkler” scared the kids TO DEATH.  I mean bloody murder screaming, all try to climb me and get the heck away from the spraying monster!  This year I was excited to learn they had grown up and it wasn’t nearly as scary for the kids!  They LOVED IT!

What a great day!  I miss summer already!

How a Neti Pot Made Me Cry… {Happy Birthday To ME!}

Sunday afternoon we had a joint birthday for my dad & myself, even though today is my official 26th birthday!  It was a small family party and never in my wildest dreams did I think a simple silly present from my little sister would make me cry!

The present opening started out normal enough, I got money, candy and a pair of capris from Lucy.  Awesome gifts, but nothing exciting (or tear worthy).  Until I got to Alex’s gift … I open her card and bag …

to find a Neti Pot …

DSC_0369

As you can see, I wasn’t overly bummed by the Neti Pot.  It has become a bit of a family joke after I realized that many members of my family had never heard of one.  I went as far as finding You-Tube videos for them to watch about it, because they didn’t believe something like this existed!  [FYI Wiki’s definition of a Neti Pot: “Are used to flush out the nasal cavities by using gravity to draw the flow of saline”.

My whole family was laughing when I opened the present because of how much giggles it had given us over the last year or so!  Little did I know this was a “filler” gift, because the real gift she got me couldn’t fit in the cute little birthday bag.

See that note taped to the bottom of the box?  That little note was worth over $1,100!  YES, my 18 year old sister spent $1,100 on a BIRTHDAY GIFT FOR ME!

DSC_0370

The notecard taped to the box held another folded up sheet of paper.  As I opened the paper the tears began to flow …

DSC_0371

What did that sheet of paper contain?  What had Alex spent $1,100 on?  The one thing I will tell you is it was related to my car.  Before I reveal the gift, we need to travel back in time to explain the history behind the gift.  In May, I wrote about My First Car in a Writer’s Workshop prompt.  In the post I shared photos of my first and current car, plus the story behind all its DAMAGE AND DENTS!

Kelly backs up like she’s driving a bumper car vehicle! Very annoying!! Luckily, she only would give it "love taps" and not anything major. You can see some of the scratches on the front of my car. Oh and the “H” logo is pushed in on the hood! Thanks Kel!

When my youngest sister turned 16, she didn’t buy a car right away because my family had a plethora of cars and I was working across the street so most of the time I didn’t need a car. So I graciously allowed Alex to drive my car for about 6 months day and night. I’m a nice sister! It was during Alex’s tenure with my car that the major damage occurred. The biggest issue was when she got side swiped on the passenger side by a semi truck on the freeway. That left a MAJOR indent in the side of my car. It wasn’t her fault it happened, it just happened on her watch! She feels bad, and promises she will get it fixed. (Hopefully she doesn’t read this because she’ll be mortified and embarrassed! Oh well!)

Well, I’m sure now you’ve figured out what Alex got me for my birthday … SHE FIXED MY CAR!  She spent almost ALL the money she had earned this summer babysitting to get my car fixed.  How amazing is that??

DSC_0372DSC_0373

The funniest part … okay well there are three funny parts…

  1. I probably walked by my FIXED car 10 times and NEVER ONCE noticed it had been fixed.
  2. Just hours earlier I was slamming … and I mean SLAMMING, Alex for wrecking my car.  I went as far as saying, I probably wouldn’t keep it much longer!
  3. Kelly’s comment after I saw the car … “Alex- Sadly Cori was happy with the $20 Neti Pot!  There was no need to fix her car!”

Kelly should thank Alex, because Alex paid for the damage SHE caused to my car too!

ALEX THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!

Sadly, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to repair her.  Okay really I’m sad because I no longer have something to hold over her head.  Darn her!

Here’s a few more photos from my family birthday party!
