2014 Blog in Review

I say this every year, how is it possible that I am sitting down and writing my 2014 Blog in Review?  Has it really been 365 days since I wrote 2013’s?  That just doesn’t seem at all plausible, but alas it is and here I go.

During 2014 my blogging changed a bit, while what I blogged about during 2014 didn’t change the look of it did.  I took on a 365 day photo challenge (and by golly today is day 365 and I will post my final photo) and instead of posting lots of single event posts, most were my weekly photo updates.  In each of these posts I shared the previous week’s seven photos and told the story behind each one.  In one way this was a fun way to recap more of what I did throughout the year, it made my blog look different.  Instead of having lots of completely different blog posts the majority of them had the same title, some variation of Catch The Moment | 365.  That being said my review is also a bit different.  Instead of highlighting one event, for most months I had to pick my favorite week and then try to put a theme together!  In the end I think I did a pretty good job, but still different.  But different is good, right?!

Without further ado, here’s my 2014 in review:

Catch the Moment | 365: Week 5 [#catchthemoment365]

This week has been HARD now that the days of the challenge no longer correspond with the day of the month!  No longer does day 1 correspond with the 1st day of the month!  Annoying!  Each day I have to double check what day of the challenge it is.  It’s only a matter time before I mess up and mix up the day and date!

Unless you’re a Seahawks fan I think you’ll find this week’s photos boring.  I may be a Seahawks fan and I may have posted a Seahawks picture for a majority of the days this week.  What can I say?  This was the Super Bowl!  AND the first Super Bowl win for the Seahawks after nearly 40 years!  I’m a little bit proud….Good news, if you’re not a Seahawks fan next week I’ll be back to normal photos.  Well at least until baseball season starts up in a month Open-mouthed smile

with Mindy at Simply Stavish, Sarah at Nurse Loves Farmer, and Stephanie at Behind the Camera and Dreaming.

How does this work?  Everyday I am posting a new pic to Instagram, Twitter and my personal Facebook page with the hash tags #365DaysofCori and the official challenge hash tag #catchthemoment365.  On Friday’s I will do a recap of the previous week’s photos and *hopefully* give a little more insight into the photos, why I took them and any history behind them.

Happy Friday!

Happy 7th Birthday, Madison Sophia!

As this blog post posts at 3:44am, Madison Sophia will be celebrating her 7th birthday!  Well, hopefully not really celebrating her 7th birthday, hopefully sleeping….but dreaming of the fun day ahead of her!!

It is mind boggling that this 6lb, 11oz bundle of joy is turning 7 years old.

Wow time flies!

I started blogging when Madison was just over two years old and have celebrated with her every year since!  I thought it would be fun to share some family photos of the day she was born.

The night Jaime went into labor I had been over at their place watching television with her.  I left around 10pm, headed home and went to bed.  Just over an hour later Zak called me and said that Jaime’s water had broke and she had already been admitted to Labor & Delivery.

WHAT?!  I had just left and yes, she had been having steady contractions…but to an hour later being admitted to the hospital?  That was crazy fast!

Brandi picked me up and we headed the 25 minutes into the hospital.

After arriving we checked in and learned that Jaime was really sick and didn’t want visitors.  Her nurse assured us that since it was Jaime’s first baby she wouldn’t deliver until at least 7am (1cm an hour).  So Brandi and I packed back up and headed back home.

Before we were even 5 minutes from the hospital Zak called and said she was getting her epidural and progressing fast.

I got home, climbed into bed and my phone starting ringing (maybe an hour later).  It was Zak saying, it was time to deliver and if I wanted to be there before the baby was born I needed to get my butt on the road.

Remember this is now about 1:30am.

For the second time in a couple hours, in the middle of the night, I made the 25 minute trip to the hospital.

I got there and found Jaime much happier, thanks to her wonderful epidural!  I probably waited with them in the hospital room for over an hour as we waited for the doctor to come to deliver the baby.

It wasn’t long after that when Madison Sophia entered the world at 3:44am.  I was outside in the hall during the delivery, but heard her first scream as she was delivered and was invited in quickly there after.  That’s a memory that I’ll always treasure.

Below are some family pictures from the day Madison was born.  We all look so much younger, well maybe not me, I look the same!

After several hours at the hospital after Mad was born I headed home to get some sleep, shower and then returned to the hospital later that day!

Ahhhh….I just love this little girl, or I guess should say big girl now!

Happy Birthday, Maddie!!

Cori & Kelly

When I initially set-out to write my last post, Goodbyes, I had planned to include some early pictures of Kelly and myself (sorry Alex, you weren’t included!).  And yet, the more I wrote, the more the pictures didn’t seem to fit and once I inputted them, they just seemed … well … awkward.  So I deleted them.

I did, however, go to all the trouble of finding the photos, scanning and editing them, that I thought it would be a shame not to share them.  (Remember, I am extremely vain!)

Below you’ll find photos of Kelly and me….”the girls”….as we were (and still are) commonly referred to as.  People always comment on how much we look alike, neither of us see it, but it’s interesting.  I think in these photos we are to young and the age gap is obvious….one of these days I’ll look for more recent pictures of the two of us together.  Granted, despite looking a lot a like, Kelly is 6” TALLER then me, which makes it very easy to differentiate between the both of us!

Enjoy some early pictures of me and Kelly.  Yes, you can see my big mouth and same smile, even back when I was little!  And if you are good at math, you might be able to figure out how old I really am!

Oh….and my mom claimed she always dressed us to the T’s…I’m not so sure!  Apparently, it was the style back then, I think she just had no taste Winking smile

(*Betcha Didn’t Know - My mom made my dress and the dress Kelly is wearing is our blessing dress.  Each of us girls (including Alex) wore this dress for our blessing and then got professional photos taken, all at 3 months old!  Yes, my mom still has the dress, will it continue into the next generation??  We’ll just have to wait and see!)

Okay, enough reminiscing!!  Thanks for stopping by and allowing me to show off!

Happy Friday, Friends!

–> PSST… If you are here to see the announcement of the winner of my eDiaperCakes Giveaway, you’ll have to come back tomorrow and look.  Now you know my secret, I schedule my posts in advance!  But while you’re here, leave a comment and say “HI!”!

Happy 4th Birthday, Emmalee Paul

With New Years behind us, our family looks forward to the first birthday of the new year!  Today the adorable, Emmalee Paul turns 4 years old!

All of Emma’s life has been documented right here on my blog!  Emma was “my” blog baby

I started this blog when Jaime was about 4 months pregnant and I was able to document the highlights of Jaime’s pregnancy with Emmalee.  Including finding out she’s a girl, false alarm trips to Labor & Deliver during snowstorms (trip 1 & trip 2), being born, 1st Disneyland trip, 1st birthday, learning to walk, 2nd birthday, 3rd birthday and a whole lot of fun all dedicated to the wonderfully awesome Emmalee

Thank you Jaime & Zak for letting me document Emma’s life, here on my blog!

I think this birthday is going to much better then how she celebrated last year.  For her 3rd birthday, the day after she got her tonsils and adenoids out.  What a bummer way to celebrate!

An Emma funny….all during December when everyone was talking about “what I want for Christmas,” Emma would jump in and say “I want xyz for my birthday.”

She seemed to have no recollections of Christmas and getting presents, but she knew that BIRTHDAYS meant PRESENTS!  So she kept asking for Christmas gifts for her birthday!  Luckily for her, her birthday is 9 days after Christmas!

Happy Birthday, Sweet Princess!  I’m so proud, happy and honored to be your “auntie”!  I love you!

edited presents

P.S. Thanks Brandi for the photo of some of the presents that Emma woke up too! Smile I’m guessing we will be celebrating her birthday this coming weekend….now what to get this little girl….that’s the question!

Christmas Day

This was our second year of our “new” family tradition.  For the majority of my life we’ve had one big family Christmas, everyone all together.  However, with the new generation of great-grandkids, it’s been decided that they want to have their own Christmas morning traditions, just their family.  So we shifted.

I don’t like change.  I’m getting over it.

With that being said…

Christmas Eve we spent at my Grandma’s with everyone.  Where we had a fun day spent together, a delicious dinner and opened our traditional Christmas Eve/Day pajamas!  Christmas morning however was a bit different.

My nuclear family, plus my Grandma, all gathered together about 7:30am on Christmas morning to open packages together.  After all the opening was done we had a delicious breakfast of yummy French toast and then all went our separate ways to play with our new toys, rest and regroup for Christmas: Round 2!

Around 1pm, the rest of the family came over to my house and once again we were all together.  We opened a second round of presents.  Ate WAY TO MUCH delicious food!  Played games.  Made cinnamon rolls and of course talked and talked and talked!

It was a perfect Christmas Day!

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

Christmas Eve

Yesterday, I posted our 2012 Family Photo!  If you missed it, hop over and check it out!  It turned out really good, all 12 of us are looking at the camera and smiling.  The amazing feat is it only took us five tries!  I’m happy with the photo we ended up with!

Today, I’m going back a couple days to Christmas Eve and sharing some fun photos of our family that were taken on Christmas Eve!

DSC_0311Pretty sure this is my token blog picture…. I seem to use this pose a lot!

DSC_0329Grandma opening a beautiful plant/flower from Aunt Sue!

DSC_0331My dad all proud he put together (part of) Merida’s bed, from the Movie Brave, a piece of the castle Emmalee got.  I couldn’t get this bed together for the life of me!

DSC_0333-2Madison started a family Christmas Carol sing-a-long after we all ate a yummy dinner of ham!

DSC_0334-2Everyone, sing!

DSC_0354-2DSC_0362My dad even had us break into Hava Nagila, channeling our inner Jewish roots!

DSC_0370Kelly & Zak weren’t nearly as impressed with the family sing-a-long!  And yes, that is Kelly “stabbing” a fork in Zak’s eye!

DSC_0375Alex tried to end the singing by starting a spoon sticking contest!

DSC_0380Grandma helping Emmalee open her Christmas Eve pajamas!  A LONG running family tradition!  Grandma always buys the grandkids new pajamas on Christmas Eve.  Now it’s just the little girls who get special PJ’s from Grandma!

DSC_0385Even though we don’t get specially picked out Grandma pajamas, we all get matching pajamas to wear on Christmas Day.  You must wear the pajamas to be admitted to the table for Christmas dinner!

Are you curious what our pajamas looked like??

I love my family!  We always have a blast together and I feel so blessed to have them all live so close to me!

Up next…Christmas Day!

Merry Christmas!
