21 year rewind

20140621-205420-75260305.jpg

It makes me feel super old when I realize today my baby sister turns 21! And in less than a month wi be finishing her junior year at BYU-Idaho. Not only will she be 21 but a senior in college.

Mind blown.

With her still in school she won’t be home to celebrate until late next month, but in her honor we are having and Alex’s-less birthday celebration! Well we will celebrate her 21st birthday but also congratulate the rest of the family for surviving her these past 21 years ;) At times it was questionable … Haha!

Don’t worry I will be celebrating with her sooner than when she comes home for summer vacation. Alex, Brandi and I are going to meet up in Vegas for the 4th of July weekend to celebrate her birthday and spend time with our extended Vegas-living Flemmer family! I can’t wait for warm weather and fantastic family to spend time with!

But in the meantime, Happy Birthday, Alexandra Nicole!. You are extremely loved and I can’t wait to see you in Vegas!

Celebrating 7 years with my [sorta] Quad Squad!

Kids-and-Cori_thumb.jpg

Kids and Cori

I had forgotten this photo existed until I was going through photos looking for a birthday photo for the triplets.  It definitely brought back A LOT of memories of hours, days, months and years spent with these kiddos.  Many people know that I nannied for the triplets for their first five years, until just before Kindergarten when I graduated; however many don’t know that on many occasions I had a forth baby to watch.

Ryan’s birthday is just three days after the triplets’, so it was basically like watching quadruplets for several days a week.  (On top of that I often had their cousin Cody who is about 6 months older and my niece Madison who is 11 months older….we’ll just say I was the worlds fastest diaper changer when I had all 6 in diapers and on my own!).

When the “Quad Squad” was just nine weeks old we even took an amazing trip to Hawaii!  I have extremely fond memories of these babies growing up and am happy to have found this photo showing myself with the kids!

Side Note: I use my blog as an online journal of sorts for myself, my family & friends and I often go back to old blog posts to reminisce of fun times.  However, I started blogging the kids were about 18 months old and I blogged a bunch about our adventures after that; so in order to look back and picture when the “quad squad” was babies I have to go back through old computer photo files.  So whenever I find myself looking at old photos I tend to look for a LONG time!  Love photos so much!

Happy Birthday [today] to Gabbi, Nate & Jack and Happy [early] Birthday to Ryan!

Love these four babies kids so much and the memories I have with them are priceless!

fifteen

elkins-baby_thumb19.jpg

Fifteen years ago the world was introduced to “my first” triplets.  No, this is not an April Fools joke, 15 years ago, the Elkins girls were born weighing in with a *combined* weight of 9lbs, 7oz!

Wow. Mind blown.

To put it into perspective I started watching them when I was 13 / 14 (there’s a slight discrepancy in age Smile) when they were about 4 months old.  They are now *older* than I was when they were born.  How can that be?

Fifteen years later they are the most beautiful, sweet, caring girls about to finish their Freshman year of high school.

Happy birthday girls!  Enjoy being 15….just think in 6 months (or less if you start driver’s-ed!) you guys will be driving!  Ahhhhhhhh!!  Love you all very, very, very much!

#CatchTheMoment365 – Week 10

Well it finally happened….I messed up.

Yes, it does happen…occasionally…take a photo because I guarantee this doesn’t happen often.  I.Hate.Messing.Up.

Yes, I miss numbered my days for the last two days of the week.  Betcha didn’t know that both March 2 and March 12 were day 61!

It was only a matter of time before I messed up the numbering.  However in order to be true to the challenge I didn’t fix or edit the day and they are being post as I originally posted them….WRONG.

Catch the Moment | 365: Week 3 [#catchthemoment365]

Last week I struggled with getting all my photos taken.  It was getting to the point that I was afraid I would miss a day and fail my goal!  However, this week was completely different!  I don’t know if it was because I was busier or becoming more aware of photo opportunities or a combination of the two, but I had fewer drives home panicking that I hadn’t taken a photo yet!  After this week I feel a lot more confident in ability to achieve this goal and complete the challenge!

Here’s my third week of 2014 in photos:

The Outtakes of Emmalee

Emmalee is my “blog baby” niece.  I began blogging during Jaime’s pregnancy and blogged all the important milestones for Emmalee…the important ones you know like: her first days of life, first steps, her first kisses, celebrating her 3rd birthday by having surgery, the proper etiquette of olive eating, minor case of identity crisis and of course all the other stuff in between.  Jaime has joked in the past that my blog is better then any baby book could ever be!

Today Emmalee turns 5.

Wow. 5. That is absolutely surreal.

This girl is FULL of personality!  Even in preschool she is already the class clown.  She has mastered (to her sister’s dislike) photo bombing and silly photo poses.  This girl cracks me up and is always looking for a way to make you smile and laugh.

For her birthday I am posting a bunch of outtake photos.  The ones that she photo bombed or was being silly in.   The ones that show her true happy character!

Happy 5th birthday Emmalee!

Happy 7th Birthday, Madison Sophia!

As this blog post posts at 3:44am, Madison Sophia will be celebrating her 7th birthday!  Well, hopefully not really celebrating her 7th birthday, hopefully sleeping….but dreaming of the fun day ahead of her!!

It is mind boggling that this 6lb, 11oz bundle of joy is turning 7 years old.

Wow time flies!

Crazy.

I started blogging when Madison was just over two years old and have celebrated with her every year since!  I thought it would be fun to share some family photos of the day she was born.

The night Jaime went into labor I had been over at their place watching television with her.  I left around 10pm, headed home and went to bed.  Just over an hour later Zak called me and said that Jaime’s water had broke and she had already been admitted to Labor & Delivery.

WHAT?!  I had just left and yes, she had been having steady contractions…but to an hour later being admitted to the hospital?  That was crazy fast!

Brandi picked me up and we headed the 25 minutes into the hospital.

After arriving we checked in and learned that Jaime was really sick and didn’t want visitors.  Her nurse assured us that since it was Jaime’s first baby she wouldn’t deliver until at least 7am (1cm an hour).  So Brandi and I packed back up and headed back home.

Before we were even 5 minutes from the hospital Zak called and said she was getting her epidural and progressing fast.

I got home, climbed into bed and my phone starting ringing (maybe an hour later).  It was Zak saying, it was time to deliver and if I wanted to be there before the baby was born I needed to get my butt on the road.

Remember this is now about 1:30am.

For the second time in a couple hours, in the middle of the night, I made the 25 minute trip to the hospital.

I got there and found Jaime much happier, thanks to her wonderful epidural!  I probably waited with them in the hospital room for over an hour as we waited for the doctor to come to deliver the baby.

It wasn’t long after that when Madison Sophia entered the world at 3:44am.  I was outside in the hall during the delivery, but heard her first scream as she was delivered and was invited in quickly there after.  That’s a memory that I’ll always treasure.

Below are some family pictures from the day Madison was born.  We all look so much younger, well maybe not me, I look the same!

After several hours at the hospital after Mad was born I headed home to get some sleep, shower and then returned to the hospital later that day!

Ahhhh….I just love this little girl, or I guess should say big girl now!

Happy Birthday, Maddie!!

Zoo Birthday

Last Saturday, Brandi, Emmalee and I attended a birthday party at the Woodland Park Zoo.  I’ve been to the zoo many, many times but never to go to a birthday party!  However, it was AWESOME and I highly recommend it for other birthday’s!

With the birthday invite we got a full day’s entry into the zoo, so we decided to go early and wander around by ourselves before the party began at 1pm.

It was a BEAUTIFUL day to go to the zoo here in Seattle.  Overcast and cold, but not raining….that’s a rare combination here and one we gladly took advantage of!

DSC_0079DSC_0083DSC_0092DSC_0097DSC_0103DSC_0107DSC_0131collageDSC_0150DSC_0213

After several hours of wandering the zoo, and getting lost once, it was time for the party!

Xander’s party was held in one of the party rooms in the historic carousel house!  It included unlimited rides on the carousel….I think Em and I road the ride at least 6 times constantly.  On time #7 I was very dizzy and it was Brandi’s turn to take a ride (or two…).  Em must have rode the carousel at least 10 times!

The party also included a visit from a zoo animal.

The animal came caged in a small cooler.  When Em was asked “what animal did the zookeeper bring” her initial thought was a baby elephant or baby tiger.  So what did come in the small cooler??

A Bearded Dragon.

Uh….close Em, very close!

Each of the kids had a chance to touch and pet the bearded dragon.  Em shocked me and wanted to pet the dragon multiple times!  I asked her “what does it feel like?” and her response was “like a pineapple”.  Uh…I didn’t even know the child new what a pineapple was, let alone what one feels like?  No, I didn’t pet the bearded dragon, so I’m going to just believe Em!

And then of course there was cake & ice cream!!

Thanks Xander for inviting us to attend your birthday at the zoo! We had a blast!!
