I’m slightly addicted to Pinterest. I pin a couple times a day (give or take a hundred!), but I have never had an item I made go *viral*. However, a few days ago I was scrolling through and came across one of MY posts that had been pinned a crazy amount of times!
Last Valentine’s Day I made these fun Valentine’s to pass out to my volunteers.
I had pinned it to Pinterest just to see what happened and it quickly became the #1 searched item that brought people to my blog. Pretty cool! I was psyched!
In January I started noticing the original pin I posted on Pinterest was getting more and more re-pins. I *enjoyed* checking it daily to see how many pins it now had. By early last week I was inching closer to 500 pins. I was thrilled to see my first pin go “viral” (in my mind!).
But then a couple days before Valentine’s Day I was scrolling through my Pinterest home page and came across my photo. However, it wasn’t pinned/connected to my blog:
Slightly confused I clicked through to the “Visit” link below the image and to my surprise was brought to this website:
where I noticed my pin had been spotlighted on the “Top DIY Projects” site for Valentine’s Day ideas. Not only had it been spotlighted, but it had been pinned more than 6,000 times! WOW! I was absolutely shocked and excited.
I quickly sent my friend a message, the one who had originally pinned this pin, and asked if she had any idea that was my photo. She responded with she didn’t initially know it was mine, but soon made the connection. She had found it by doing a Google search for the “Won’t Chew Be Mine” question. She went on to tell me it actually was the first item that popped up in Google Images! What?!
I then popped over to the “web” option where I found that my blog post appeared as #5! Yep, I was pretty excited!
I’m pretty darn proud of myself! Have you had an item go “viral”? Even if it’s just a “Cori” standard viral post?
