Christmas Day

This was our second year of our “new” family tradition.  For the majority of my life we’ve had one big family Christmas, everyone all together.  However, with the new generation of great-grandkids, it’s been decided that they want to have their own Christmas morning traditions, just their family.  So we shifted.

I don’t like change.  I’m getting over it.

With that being said…

Christmas Eve we spent at my Grandma’s with everyone.  Where we had a fun day spent together, a delicious dinner and opened our traditional Christmas Eve/Day pajamas!  Christmas morning however was a bit different.

My nuclear family, plus my Grandma, all gathered together about 7:30am on Christmas morning to open packages together.  After all the opening was done we had a delicious breakfast of yummy French toast and then all went our separate ways to play with our new toys, rest and regroup for Christmas: Round 2!

Around 1pm, the rest of the family came over to my house and once again we were all together.  We opened a second round of presents.  Ate WAY TO MUCH delicious food!  Played games.  Made cinnamon rolls and of course talked and talked and talked!

It was a perfect Christmas Day!

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

My husband’s family is like that too. His family is huge, but everyone tends to do their own thing for Christmas.

I’m glad to hear you had a wonderful day! Change is difficult especially around the holidays but it sounds like you kept an open mind and had fun. Happy Holidays!

Change is difficult around the holidays, especially when traditions are so prevelent!! Hope you had a wonderful holiday too!
