How many of us shopped on Grey Thursday or Black Friday? Me … Guilty!
How many of us supported local small businesses during Small Business Saturday?
How many of us are planning on getting online tomorrow during Cyber Monday?
Each one of us is “guilty” (I’m sure) of participating in at least one of these events. I know I went shopping on Thanksgiving Night into the wee hours of Friday morning and will do some online shopping tomorrow too! I know I’m not alone. However, this time of year isn’t just about the best deals, number of presents purchased, they money we’re saving (or spending!) … it’s about remembering the true meaning of CHRISTmas and remembering to give back to those that are less fortunate then we are.
“We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. This year help create #GivingTuesday™, the giving season’s opening day.
On Tuesday November 27, 2012 charities, families, businesses and individuals are coming together to transform the way people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season.
It’s a simple idea. Find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to join in acts of giving. Tell everyone you can about what you are doing and why it matters. Join a national celebration of our great tradition of generosity.
And together we’ll create ways to give more, give better and give smarter.”
Eastside Baby Corner will be participating in the inaugural day of #GivingTuesday by opening the warehouse, during 3 different shifts, to have volunteers come in and give back to our community. (If you live in the Seattle, Bellevue, Issaquah area and are interested in volunteering with us, please sign-up HERE.)
To find a way to give back to your community, check out the #GivingTuesday website. You will find information on all the different amazing people, organizations, etc. that are participating in this day long event!
Give, Give, Give!
